Safety Matters

The Kaechele Safety Committee wants to hear from you.  If you have a safety concern and/or suggestion about how to make our school safer, then please use the link below.   If you want us to contact you, then please make sure to leave your information, and we will follow up with you as needed. These responses will be checked monthly by the school’s safety committee. If this concern is something that needs to be addressed immediately, then please call the school.  For quick reference, this link will also be posted on our school’s main website under “Site Links.” Parent Safety Concerns Survey

Safety Drills  Please be aware that we have many safety drills in the course of the year. In some cases, we involve the fire department and other emergency personnel.  Their vehicles and equipment could be parked in the parking lot. We even try to challenge ourselves to simulate a “real” incident even though we do our best to make our students aware and comfortable with these drills.  Please do not be alarmed if you see what might look like an emergency or hear students discussing procedures. We will certainly communicate with the community in the event of a real occurrence. Next week, we will be practicing our procedures in the event of an earthquake and tornado.

Short Pump Mile

Thank you to all the Kaechele students and parents that came out to the Short Pump Mile on September 30th. We had so many students participating in this event that we won 3rd place for participation and received $400 dollars that will go towards PE and recess equipment for our school. Mr. Runk was so proud to see so many students running and representing our school. We even had a few students receive plaques for placing in the top 10 for their division. On Tuesday, October 9th , Mr. Runk is asking for all students that participated in the race to wear their Short Pump Mile shirt to school that day. We would love to get a picture with all the participants from our school. Click on the link to see some pictures from the event! https://share.bannersnack.com/bzkfg35pr/

Mr. Kaechele Day

Mr. Kaechele Day was a HUGE success! We had a wave of blue showcased throughout our building, lots of meatball subs eaten at lunch and golf played during recess. This day helped all our students learn more about who David A. Kaechele was and what contributions he made in our school community. Mr. Kaechele’s daughters and (Karen and Kathy) and John Vithoulkas, HCPS county manager, shared their experienced about Mr. Kaechele with our fifth graders. Later in the day, his daughters visited with the younger classes to read a book, share some memories, and answer student questions about the school’s namesake. What a great way for all of our students to make a connection with this influential man!

VIDEO: Peace Day at Kaechele

On Friday, 9/21/18, our school celebrated International Peace Day by participating in a school wide assembly and recognizing ways to be peaceful.  When we find our own sense of peace, then we can share it with others. At KES we show our support for peace by being kind, loving, compassionate, and empathetic with each other.  In past years we have used the symbol of the pinwheel. This year our entire student body created a heart, and each KES student will receive a copy of the heart. Students were challenged by Mrs. Patterson to support peace in our school and community by sharing this picture with an individual person, a group of people or perhaps in a local community organization.  Students can write a note on the heart, color a picture, or just post the picture somewhere. The purpose of this activity is to encourage our students to think about ways to share peace within their community and to also advertise that KES students promote peace. We look forward to hearing how KES hearts have made a difference in our community. Click on the picture to check out a time lapse video of our coyotes creating our heart for peace.
